Jung Il Woo to Star in ‘The Night Watchman’s Journal’

Jung Il Woo is said to be favorably reviewing a leading role in the upcoming MBC drama The Night Watchman’s Journal. The drama is set to air after Triangle sometime in July.

The Night Watchman’s Journal is set in the Joseon Dynasty where the titular watchman patrols through the night from 9pm to 5am to catch ghosts and stop supernatural crimes. The drama will be directed by Lee Joo Hwan (Lights and Shadows, Jumong) and written by Yoo Dong Yoon (The King’s Dream, Daemul), and produced by Raemong Raein, the production company behind Sungkyunkwan Scandal.

The drama gives me stirrings of Arang and the Magistrate, which I’ve sinfully still haven’t seen. I wonder if it will keep that tone or be more amusing and lighthearted. I think Sungkyunkwan Scandal was more lighthearted than melodramatic, even though there was a serious storyline too it. Not sure on how Arang was, but it would be nice to see Jung in a more comedic sort of role.

It would also be nice if he grew out his hair naturally and give us that wonderful, glorious mane. In the meantime, he’ll be participating in Infinity Challenge for the World Cup in Brazil.
